About Me

Why I love the Rockies:
I am a lifelong Rockies fan. I can make this claim because I am 18 years old; the first game I ever attended was the first game in franchise history. I was three years old, but as soon as I heard the crack of Eric Young's bat as he hit that leadoff home run, I've been hooked for life. Since then, I've attended an average of thirty home games per year. When the Rockies started going through hard times, throwing out players like Chris Stynes and Jose Jimenez, I watched from the stands as Coors became practically dormant. But I kept going, supporting the team I had grown to love since the beginning.

Due to family and custodial issues of late, I have had to spend my summers in Virginia. This past summer, I refused to miss any Rockies whatsoever. I shelled out the $20 per month (hardly chump change for a student) to pay for mlb.tv so I could watch every single pitch. I'd skip dinner at my summer college session to sit in my dorm and watch the Rockies annihilate the top teams in the AL East in June. I suffered as the Rockies went 1-9 on a road trip after that. When I came home, I started going to every game, appreciating the team more than ever. I was a staple in the Rockpile on weeknights (or in the Pavilion in left field if Bonds and the Giants were in town). I witnessed the Wild Card play-in game against the Padres. Talk about the biggest party in town at 20th and Blake after the game! People dancing with and hugging strangers, cars honking, sheer pandemonium! And I was back for all of the home playoff games too. There has never been so much excitement for the Rockies.

I was unable to land World Series tickets like many others unfortunately. Nonetheless, go Todd Helton, Matt Holliday, Garrett Atkins, Brad Hawpe, Troy Tulowitzki, Kaz Matsui, Willy Taveras, Yorvit Torrealba, Ryan Spilborghs, Seth Smith, Cory Sullivan, Chris Iannetta, Jeff Baker, Jamey Carroll, Jeff Francis, Ubaldo Jimenez, Franklin Morales, Aaron Cook, Josh Fogg, Ryan Speier, Brian Fuentes, Jeremy Affeldt, Matt Herges, LaTroy Hawkins, Manny Corpas, Clint Hurdle and the Rockies! And special love for the players who contributed but didn't make the World Series roster: Taylor Buchholz, Ian Stewart, Joe Koshansky, Jorge Julio, Omar Quintanilla, Jason Hirsh, and Rodrigo Lopez!
